The Brief

Bruce Farms, a fourth-generation farming business and well-respected produce supplier, approached LUX to develop their first retail brand. The brief was to create a freeze-dried pea-based food brand with potential to secure domestic and international retail listings. With plant-based protein, low calories and gluten-free credentials, the product would resonate with health-conscious consumers, backed by authentic family farming provenance. LUX steered new product development through market analysis, focus groups and consumer tasting panels, creating a commercially viable, better-for-you pea snacks brand which offered the convenience and taste of crisps.

From NPD to brand naming, product positioning strategy, contemporary packaging design and sales tools, we delivered a complete market-ready solution. Within six months, Podberry secured nationwide listings in Morrisons, Lidl Scotland and Co-Op, established relationships with international supermarket chains and gained nationwide press coverage as a must-try snack.
