This week has once again been full of foodie announcements most definitely worth digesting. Most exciting of all? The reveal of Dishoom opening its doors this winter! Go on, dig in…
This winter, the team behind one of the UK’s top restaurants, Dishoom will be opening its new eatery in Edinburgh. This will be Dishoom’s first opening outside of London and will settle in St Andrew Square, creating 100 new jobs in the city.
Dishoom pays homage to the Irani cafés of Bombay, which was opened by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran in the early last century. There were almost 400 cafés in the peak of their success in the 1960s, however fewer than 30 remain now.
Diners will be able to experience an array of Bombay dishes, from their legendary breakfast to an authentic late dinner. There will even be a basement cocktail bar to enjoy a few tantalising tipples.

Local restaurants and cafés are participating in a 10-day extravaganza to offer exclusive, mouth-watering set menus, special offers and delectable discounts. Commencing from the 6th – 16th of October, The Edinburgh Restaurant Festival will take place across City Centre and West End areas, and is sure to appeal to all tastes on the food spectrum.
The finest Italian businesses in Scotland have been selected by the public for the chance to become an award-winning venue. The judging panel will be making its way across Scotland to visit all finalists who’ll be serving up the crème de la crème from their menus to be put under the judges’ scrutinising glares.
Winners will be announced at the glitzy gala final on Sunday the 13th of November.
Resident LUXers Kelly and Chris this week got all shaken and stirred at Edinburgh Gin’s Rutland Place Distillery for an evening of ginspiration with some of Edinburgh’s finest bartenders.
Guests were taken through the A-Z of gin history before the tasting session commenced, showcasing three delicious gins from the line-up; Original Edinburgh Gin, Seaside Gin and Cannonball Gin.
Bartenders were then split into groups and asked to create an original cocktail using gins from the Edinburgh Gin range. With a free bottle up for grabs, contenders poured their heart and soul – as well as the gin – into their very best creations.
